Strange happenings... the election

I'm going on vacation to MN!!!! The plane leaves soon, so I'll keep this short.

That said, I think that the Democrats actually did not do very well this election. They did take both parts of Congress.... but with all that they had going for them, (war approval ratings, most Senate seats up for grabs being defended by Republicans, etc) the race between the 2 parties should not have even been close. All that happened, and the Senate was only decided by a down-to-the-wire race in Virginia? The Democrats should be ashamed, maybe, that they couldn't "run up the score" given their situation.

Nate, most of the seats that were up for re-election were being defended by DEMOCRATS, not Republicans. Only 15 Republicans were up for grabs, compared to 18 Democrats. Of the 15 GOP seats up, Dems took 6 and the GOP took 9 (40% loss). The Dems held all 18 of theirs, including red-state seats including West Virginia, Nebraska, and North Dakota. The Dems did a hell of a job, and they deserve their props.

ps. check your facts!

Ok... maybe it just seemed that way. My bad. But still... given Bush's horrible approval rating and the way Iraq has gone, the Dems should have taken a lot more seats.
