Spring Break

I went down south to the Great Smoky Mountains for a multi-day backpacking trip this week along the Appalachian Trail. Here are some random thoughts...
1) NEVER eat hot Mexican food before a long hike. Your friends will hate you. :)
2) There need to be more Chick-fil-A restaurants. Period.
3) I never realized the legend and mystique that surrounds the Appalachian Trail until this week.
4) Camel-Baks are amazing.
5) Try walking in the mountains in the midst of fog and clouds. For a moment, you'll feel like you are in heaven.

Complaints...

So I've gotten complaints that I don't blog anymore. True... part of the reason is that I find myself so worn out on Fridays that I don't have energy to do much of anything. I'll try and do better now, but I offer no guarantees! Below are some random thoughts to get the blog going again...

* My church in St Louis has garnered local and national media attention recently for its methodology of evangelism. It has many arms of outreach, one of which is held at a local brewery. It has caused some controversy. Read about it here:
Beer and the Bible

* I think I'm going to stay in teaching for a year or two longer. A life motto for me is, "It's Not About Me," and while God doesn't call everyone to be a teacher, in my case, He's called me to continue serving as a teacher for a bit longer. He still wants to to impact the community in that way, and it's my joy to answer the call.

* Barack Obama is running for president. While, I'm super stoked about him running, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon just yet. I don't know enough about the (seemingly) zillions of Democrats, Republicans, etc. running.
